Department of Biostatistics began its educational and research activities simultaneous with the establishment of the School of Public Health, in 2002. The department has accepted MSc students in Biostatistics from 2011. Since 2018, department of Biostatistics admitted Biostatistics PhD students.

This department is responsible to train skilled, dedicated and professional staff in the fields of Biostatistics. Additionally, this department has regional obligations to implement large scale projects related to this field as requested by national bodies, especially the Ministry of Health and Medical Education.

The Biostatistics department, with a brilliant history and experience and reputable faculty members and talented students has undertaken the objectives of education and research, addressing the needs of public health and biological, quantitative, and social sciences.
